Macedonian Village - Makedonsko Celo

Typically on the weekends we are meandering around the city center, picking new museums to visit and new restaurants and cafes to sample.

This weekend we decided to steer clear of the centar (and the protest area) - and went in the opposite direction: up Mount Vodno.

First, we visited the 12th century monastery (St. Pantelejomon) and then we explored the Macedonian Village.

This is almost like Heritage Village (for our followers back in Pinellas County). As the webisite describes --

"THE MACEDONIAN VILLAGE RESORT comprises a total of 49 rooms, located in 12 different houses, built according to authentic Macedonian architectural tradition of 19th and 20th century. The design of the houses is inspired by different geographical areas of Macedonia, including : Bitola House, Prilep House, Veles House, Struga House, Galichnik House, Reka Region House, Skopska Crna Gora House, Kratovo House, Berovo House, Delchevo House, Kumanovo House and Tetovo House."

There were some interactive exhibits (we had the most fun painting pottery) - and there were lots of festivities this weekend that were a part of their women's day celebrations.

What a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon with friends!

Here is their website: http://macedonianvillage.mk/

Here is the facebook page for Macedonian Village  - you can see videos of the special activities this weekend in honor of Women's Day (coming up this week on March 8th):
